About This Artwork

A 40-foot tall sculpture of an oversized broom and dustpan rendered at monumental scale. The bright yellow dustpan sweeps upward in a graceful arc while the broom's bristles splay out dramatically, transforming mundane household objects into whimsical Pop Art.

Claes Oldenburg & Coosje van Bruggen

Claes Oldenburg (1929-2022) and Coosje van Bruggen (1942-2009) were a husband-and-wife artistic team renowned for their monumental public sculptures of everyday objects, including Spoonbridge and Cherry in Minneapolis and Shuttlecocks at the Nelson-Atkins Museum.
